The REALLY BIG Picture!

The REALLY BIG Picture!

Let’s start with the REALLY BIG picture from the perspective of eternity.

The Prophet Isaiah wrote:

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke. (Isaiah 6:1-4 NIV)

The Apostle John identified the ‘LORD Almighty’ that Isaiah saw as Jesus Christ in his pre-incarnate glory.

Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke of him. (John 12:41 NIV)

Then later, the Apostle John himself, who walked with Jesus throughout his  earthly ministry, saw a revelation of Jesus Christ after his resurrection, as he is today:

I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. (Revelation 1:12-16 NIV)

John goes on to describe the Lamb of God in his heavenly glory:

In a loud voice they were saying: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying: “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!” The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped. (Revelation 5:12-14 NIV)

So, why would God take on such a project as large (to us) as creating and sustaining the universe?

His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Ephesians 3:10-11 NIV)

It has something to do with him using the church to demonstrate his wisdom. But, he is facing some resistance for spiritual forces. There is a war going on whether we realize it or not.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:12 NIV)

So, if we are going to survive, and even succeed in our lives and careers, we need to learn more about the systems, processes, and principles that govern everything we want do.
