Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
(Psalms 23:4 NIV)
We, at Cary Alliance Church, are a family. And like a family, we do life together… and we do death together, too. Losing a loved one is often a long and difficult journey through a very dark valley with overwhelming fears, obstacles, and challenges. Yet, if we walk the road together, sharing our burdens and encouragements, we can emerge on the other side with a new joy and more intimate relationships with our Lord and each other.
One way we support each other is through our grief support groups in which we use GriefShare materials developed by Church Initiative.
GriefShare is a 13-week, biblically-based grief recovery seminar. It utilizes a small group setting, video-based presentations by grief recovery experts, group discussion, and a workbook with daily reading and writing suggestions. Each session is about 90-minutes long. Here are some testimonies from GriefShare alumni about the impact of GriefShare on their lives.
Our GriefShare group is meets at Cary Alliance Church on Mondays, 1:30 to 3:00 pm..
Surviving the Holidays
For many who are grieving the loss of a loved one, the holiday season can bring lots of powerful emotions as well as unique events that may be difficult to navigate. GriefShare’s Surviving the Holidays seminar is designed to help you plan and prepare for the season wisely. It is a single, two-hour, biblically-based grief recovery seminar. It, too, utilizes a small group setting, video-based presentations by grief recovery experts, group discussion, and a workbook with daily reading and writing suggestions.

What about children and youth who are experiencing grief?
The GriefShare materials are designed for adults and mature youth. However, GriefShare recommends another program for children and youth called Seasons for Growth produced by Good Grief. While we don’t yet offer this program at our church, their web site contains helpful resources.
